As it’s the perfect time of year for fun, fruity beverages, here’s my recipe for watermelon and strawberry lemonade. It’s simple with only 3 ingredients, and healthy, since most or all of the sweetness comes from natural sugars in the fruit. Justin and I like pulp, so I didn’t bother to strain it but if you have the patience, you definitely can.
Watermelon & Strawberry Lemonade
Yield: About 2 quarts
Ingredients:
- 8 cups cubed seeded watermelon
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
- 1-1/2 cups water (or if you want it fizzy, try Sprite!)
- 3/4 cup lemon juice
- Sugar (optional)
Directions:
Make sure there are no seeds left in your watermelon and toss it into a blender. Liquefy the watermelon and add strawberries and water. Process until smooth.
Start with 1/2 cup lemon juice and add more to taste. I ended up with about 3/4 cup.
This recipe depends quite a bit on how sweet your fruit is. Mine was quite ripe and sweet and so I didn’t need to add any extra sugar, but if you think it is too tart, go ahead and add sugar to taste.
