This is my baby! Penny joined our family about 18 months ago as a little puppy. She believes that as a treasured member of our family, she should have all the rights & privileges of every other member.
Each year during the weekend after Thanksgiving, I begin the major cookie baking and candy making marathon. This year I made Buckeyes, Magic Cookie Bars, Butter Pecan Bars, Peanut Blossoms, Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet Cookies, Pecan Clusters, Twix Bars, Russian Teacakes, & Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies. Once I have all those things made and safely tucked away in the freezer, I can conveniently pull them out as needed to make a plate that can be ready in minutes to take to a holiday party or given as gifts to others.
One such plate this year was prepared to be taken the next morning to my co-workers at school. The night before I had prepared a plate of goodies and left them wrapped on my kitchen counter. It was similar to this one.
When I woke up the following morning, I noticed that Penny was not her perky self who is usually jumping around, anxious to be let outside. In fact, she barely moved when coaxed outside. Once I walked into the kitchen, I soon realized the reason. This is the plate that was still sitting on the counter.
My dear little Penny had a tummy ache and looked incredibly guilty! After all, that is a LOT of butter, sugar, chocolate, peanut butter, and other deliciousness, not to mention thousands of calories eaten! Well since stealing all those goodies, last week she stole an apple pie off the counter! Yes, Penny has enjoyed all the tastes and treats of the Christmas season! For that matter, I have too!
