S’mores Bars

When we moved into our house three years ago, I knew I wanted a fire pit.  We had enjoyed one in our friends’ back yard, so we knew we would love one at our house, too.  My son Matthew and I made the trek to Lowe’s to buy the necessary supplies and went to work.  We have loved our fire pit and used it over and over.  It’s great to hang out around the fire with family on a cool fall evening or invite over the youth group and their parents (about 80 people showed up, YIKES!).  Of course if you are going to have a fire, you have to have s’mores, right?  They just go hand in hand!

Last night, we had a youth devotional at the church building.  While there was no fire, I was in the mood for s’mores and decided to make these no bake s’mores bars.  They were delicious!  Just be careful in the broiler so that they do not burn.  Actually, I could eat just the bottom part without anything on top.  The cereal and marshmallow mixture was so good.  I’ll definitely be making these again!

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cups mini marshmallows, plus 4 cups mini marshmallows for topping (9 cups total)
  • 8 cups Golden Grahams cereal
  • 1-12 ounce package milk chocolate chips

Grease a 9×13 pan and set aside.

In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat.

Stir in 5 cups mini marshmallows, stirring until melted and smooth.

Stir in the Golden Grahams cereal.

Press mixture into prepared pan.

Place chocolate chips on top of the Golden Grahams treat, gently pressing them down.

Sprinkle the remaining marshmallows evenly over the chocolate chips.

Place under the broiler until marshmallows are slightly golden brown.

Let the bars cool completely.

Cut into squares and serve.
