So my friend Pam ate her first peanut butter & banana sandwich yesterday! How do you make it to 30-something not having had this yummy sandwich? Anyway, she thought I wouldn’t post something like a peanut butter/banana sandwich to the blog. Well, I’m showing her! This morning I decided to take this simple childhood lunch to a whole new level!
I decided to make this sandwich with a layer of peanut butter, a layer of Nutella, and a layer of bananas all dipped in a batter like the Monte Cristo sandwich, and deep fried! When warm, I drizzled it with a little honey and voila… you have this decadent creation!
So take that, Miss Pam. You have inspired the “Pam-wich!”
Peanut Butter, Nutella, & Banana Pam-wich
- 3 slices white bread
- Peanut Butter
- Honey, for drizzling
- Oil for deep frying
For the batter:
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Spread peanut butter on one piece of bread and then Nutella on another piece of bread.
Cut banana in long pieces and place on top of the Nutella covered bread.
Create a 3 tiered sandwich with the plain piece of bread on top.
Make batter by placing egg in mixing bowl, add water and beat together.
Add salt, sugar, flour, and baking powder.
Beat batter until smooth.
Dip sandwich in batter and VERY carefully cover all the sides and surface. (This is pretty messy!)
Carefully place in hot oil and fry until golden.
Serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a drizzle of honey.
