This recipe for Magic Cookie Bars, (sometimes known as Hello Dolly Bars), goes back to my childhood. It was a regular Christmas cookie bar that my mother made for many years. They are super easy and quick to put together. If you are like me and want to make things ahead, they also freeze extremely well.
There are so many delicious flavors combined here. However, with this recipe you can easily make substitutions. If you don’t like pecans, you could use walnuts. If you want, you could add butterscotch or peanut butter chips along with the chocolate chips. It is delicious any way you make it!
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (3 1/2 ounce) can coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Add & mix graham cracker crumbs to the butter.
Make crust in a 9×13 inch pan.
On top of the crust layer the following ingredients (in order), sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, coconut, and finally nuts.
Bake 350 °F for 25 minutes
