There are very few low carb recipes that I think taste as good as the original, but this is one of them! I love sausage balls for an appetizer as well as a quick breakfast.
The recipe is very much like the original that is made with baking mix with a few changes. Baking mix (Bisquick) is switched out with almond flour combined with baking powder and salt. Butter and Parmesan are added ingredients that aren’t in the original which add great moisture and flavor.
You can make up a batch and keep them in the freezer until you’re ready to bake. So delicious!
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 egg
- 1 cup almond flour
- 8 ounce cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Add all ingredients and mix together until well combined.
Using a cookie scoop or your hands roll sausage mixture into balls. (I like mine on the small side.)
Place sausage balls on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 16-20 minutes.
