Love chai? Chocolate? (Who doesn’t?)
Here we go: my favorite breakfast smoothie. A supremely unique flavor, kind of chocolatey and fruity and spicy all at once in a way that completely works. Justin was also a big fan.
Incidentally, it’s perfect to bring along to those 4 hour summer classes I’m currently taking… where of course, after only an hour or two I start to feel really restless and hungry and the hard melamine desk becomes unbearably uncomfortable. Distracting, delicious, filling.
Banana Coco-chai Smoothie
Yield: 2 Servings
Ingredients:
- 1 chai tea bag
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 2/3 cup plain yogurt
- 1 ripe frozen banana, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 tablespoon dark cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon oats
- 1/4 cup milk
- Honey to taste (I would say between 1 and 2 tablespoons would be about right)
- Pinch of ground ginger
Directions:
Brew the tea in the hot water for 3-4 minutes. Strain the liquid and cool for a few minutes.
Add the brewed tea and all the other ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
